Employees Working Your Trade Show Displays? How To Motivate Them For Best Results

It’s a lot of work to bring your company’s trade show displays to an event, whether you’re an employee working the exhibit or the manager who’s in charge of handling all of the organizational details.  Aside from choosing the right trade show displays, one of the most important decisions you can make is which employees will work at your exhibit — choose the wrong workers and the entire event could be a complete waste of time and money.  Some employees might not be excited to spend time at the event, especially if they work on commission and the event takes time away from their own clients.  To help motivate your workers, use these simple motivational tips.

Make Sure Your Employees Have A Comfortable Stay

If your event is located out of town, you’ll need to provide each employee with a per diem rate so that they don’t have to pay out of pocket for meals.  A standard rate is $10 for breakfast, $15 for lunch and $30 for dinner so make sure to include this per diem in your marketing budget. However, if you’re staying in a city with a high cost of living, you may need to adjust the per diem rate.  Also, make sure that you’ve booked your workers into a comfortable hotel, especially if you weren’t able to find accommodations in the hotel attached to the trade show event.  And the closer to the event location, the better.  It’s not vital that the hotel is the best in town, but you do want to make sure that your employees aren’t sleeping with rodents and bed bugs.

Set A Professional Tone With Your Trade Show Displays And Materials

Another excellent way to motivate your workers is to provide them with professional looking and dynamic marketing materials, promotional items and trade show displays.  Professional trade show displays will help draw attendees to your trade show booth, but they can also help your staffers understand that you want to help them succeed. Additionally, great looking pieces of marketing literature and promotional items can impress visitors and make your company look professional to everyone who stops by your exhibit space.

Reward Employees With Time Off After You’re Back In Town

After the event is over and the trade show displays have been stored safely away, it’s an excellent idea to give everyone who worked the event some time off.  This is an especially great idea if the expo was out of town and workers had to be on the clock outside of their regular business hours.  Your staff will be more willing to put in extra work if they understand that they’ll be rewarded with some time off when they’re back in town.

Motivating employees isn’t hard to do, but it does require that you put a little bit of thought into it.  Before you book future events, take some time to brainstorm other easy ways that you can show your employees just how much you appreciate their efforts.  This can help ensure that the expo is a successful one.
